Doctors who are interested in advancing their practice have 26 medical specialties to choose from, of which 15 specialities are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education – International (ACGME-I), 3 by the Joint Committee of Specialist Training (JCST), and 8 by the Accreditation of Postgraduate Medical Education Singapore (APMES).
For each speciality, residents will go through a structured system called rotation blocks, which allows them to gain a wide range of learning and training experiences relevant to their preferred area of specialisation. Residents will also undergo regular formative assessments to ensure his/her systematic progression towards becoming lead practitioners in their respective speciality.
