Introduction
Orthopaedic Surgery is dedicated to the diagnosis and management of conditions affecting the musculoskeletal system, including bones, joints, and muscles. The NHG Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Programme is designed to deliver a comprehensive and holistic educational experience, equipping residents with the clinical expertise, academic foundation, and professional skills required for modern orthopaedic practice.
The programme integrates training across Tan Tock Seng Hospital, Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, and Woodlands Hospital. Residents are fully immersed in each institution, managing both emergency and elective orthopaedic conditions across inpatient and outpatient settings. Close mentorship and extensive collaborative opportunities foster a dynamic and supportive learning environment.
Our Mission and Vision
To be a world-class orthopaedic training programme that develops well-rounded surgeons who embody excellence in patient-centred care while advancing clinical practice, research, education, and innovation. The programme is committed to nurturing clinicians who contribute meaningfully beyond the bedside – driving system-level improvements, leading healthcare transformation, and serving as dedicated educators.
Central to this vision is the cultivation of future talent through structured, faculty- and resident-driven initiatives such as the Pre-Residency Education Programme (PrEP) and the Combined Student Interest Group (SIG) Programme. These platforms provide early exposure, mentorship, and foundational training, strengthening the pipeline of future orthopaedic surgeons.
