Surgery-In-General

The Surgery-In-General (SIG) Residency Programme equips the resident with a good grounding in the fundamental principles of surgery and competency in surgical skills. We believe it is essential for the resident to build a strong foundation for subsequent specialty training.

SIG comprises a 24-month programme with emphasis in developing core competencies in patient care, medical knowledge, practice-based learning, interpersonal and communication skills, and professionalism and system-based practice. This ensures each resident develops into a well-grounded and independent surgeon who provides high quality, patient-centred care. The residents are given opportunities to engage in scholarly and research activities.

The resident is closely supervised and mentored by experienced faculty in a conducive learning environment.
