GPFirst

GPFIRST - Your Family Doctor, Your First Stop

GPFirst encourages residents with mild to moderate medical conditions to visit their General Practitioners (GPs) first, rather than going directly to the Accident & Emergency Department (A&E). This allows patients to receive timely medical treatment while enabling A&Es to focus on more urgent cases.

How GPFIRST works

Under GPFirst, patients receive a $50 subsidy off the prevailing A&E attendance fee when referred to a Public Healthcare Institution’s (PHI) A&E/Urgent Care Centre by a participating GP.

For a patient to be eligible to receive the $50 subsidy off via GPFirst, the patient must arrive at the A&E or Urgent Care Centre indicated on the referral form on the same day of referral*#, with the original GPFirst referral form, and present a valid identification document.

*If the referral is issued between 10pm and midnight, it remains valid until 2am the following day.

#If referred through this programme, please be advised to proceed to the A&E without delay, given that your condition has been assessed as requiring urgent follow-up or acute hospital care.
