Light blue top (sodium citrate) and lavender top (K2-EDTA)
Collection Instructions:
Submit blood in both light blue top (sodium citrate) AND lavender top (K2-EDTA).

Patient should be fasting for this test. Various drugs may inhibit platelet function. Unless the aim of testing is to demonstrate drug-induced inhibition, patient should be drug free for two weeks prior to testing.
1. Draw sufficient blood into 3 light blue top tubes.
2. Fill blood minimally to the etched fill indicator.
3. Gently invert the tubes 4 times.
4. Draw sufficient blood into 1 lavender top tube.
5. Gently invert the tube 8 - 10 times.
6. Send specimen to the laboratory immediately.
