Notes
The average bill size is estimated based on statistical average and serves only as a reference. The actual bill size may differ according to the patient’s condition.
The average bill size includes ward, treatment, therapy and ancillary charges such as drugs, procedures, laboratory tests, etc.
For subsidised wards, the average hospital bill size takes into account government subsidies.
Charges listed above exclude GST. For subsidised patients, GST is absorbed by the hospital.
The cash deposit payable will be based on the total bill amount less claimable Medisave.
For Community Hospitals, withdrawal on Medisave is limited to $250 per day up to a maximum of $5,000 a year.
For Resident Foreigners and Non-residents, Medisave is only claimable if the next-of-kin is a Singaporean or Singapore Permanent Resident.
Non-subsidised Patients
- A self-referred / walk-in case (subject to doctor availability and specialist clinic’s schedule on a day-to-day basis)
- Referral letter from a private hospital
- Referral letter from a restructured hospital under private status

Subsidised Patients

- Previously discharged from class B2 or C ward and require outpatient follow-up treatment

Over the course of an inpatient stay, patients may choose to change the ward class. This is subject to bed availability.
Upgrades
All services, including pre-admission services and daily treatment fee (DTF), will be recomputed to the upgraded class retrospectively from the point of admission.
Exception will be ward charges, which will be applied based on the upgraded class prospectively.
Deposit may be required.
Downgrades
Patients may choose to downgrade within the private ward class (i.e. A to B1), B1 ward class charging will be applied prospectively from the day of downgrading.
Patients who choose to downgrade from A/B1 to subsidised wards will have to go through Means Testing. This is applicable for Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents. Upon downgrade, subsidised charging will be applied prospectively from the day of downgrading.
MediSave
Payment for hospitalisation charges may be made through MediSave. Please inform our staff if you intend to use MediSave. You will need to sign a MediSave Authorisation Form authorising the CPF Board to withdraw funds from your MediSave account for approved treatment.
You can also log on to your HealthHub app or website with your SingPass to submit your authorisation online.

MediShield Life
MediShield Life is a basic health insurance, administered by the Central Provident Fund (CPF) Board. The objective is to help pay for large hospital bills and selected costly outpatient treatments, such as dialysis and chemotherapy for cancer.
MediShield Life will provide coverage for large hospital bills in subsidized wards. Patients who choose to stay in Class A/B1 wards are still covered by MediShield Life. However, the MediShield Life payout may cover a small proportion of the bill. Patients may need to pay more from MediSave and/or cash if they do not have a Integrated Shield Plan.

Integrated Shield Plans
MediShield Life is included in all Integrated Shield Plans. MediShield Life will cover you for life, including your pre-existing conditions. This is the case even if your pre-existing conditions are not covered under the additional portion of your Integrated Shield plan from your private insurer.
With Integrated Shield Plan you will also receive subsidy for your MediShield Life premium, if you are eligible. There are multiple additional plans that can be purchased from private insurers.

4. Will I be classified as a private or subsidised patient?
Patients are categorised as either subsidised or private based on the following criteria:
Subsidised if you are:
A Singapore Citizen or Singapore Permanent Resident (PR) referred by a Government / Restructured Hospital / Polyclinic or the Singapore Armed Forces without specifying a doctor by name.
The Hospital will assign a doctor accordingly.
Non-subsidised or private if you are:
A self-referred or walk-in case.
Referred by a General Practitioner (GP).
Referred by a Government / Restructured Hospital under private patient status and/or specifying a doctor by name
Referred by a Polyclinic, specifying a doctor by name.
Referred by a Private Hospital.
A non-resident.
Involved in an industrial accident case (work injury).
5. Can I upgrade or downgrade my ward accommodation?
You can opt to transfer between ward accommodations during your hospital stay, either upgrading or downgrading based on bed availability.
Upgrade of Ward Accommodation:
You can request an upgrade of your ward accommodation. The upgrade depends on bed availability and will take effect after you have settled the deposit and outstanding payment.
All services, including pre-admission and daily treatment fees (DTF), will be recalculated to the upgraded class from the admission date onward. The only exception is ward charges, which will apply at the upgraded class rate from the upgrade date onward.
Downgrade of Ward Accommodation:
If you decide to downgrade from a non-subsidised to subsidised ward, you will need to undergo Means Testing to qualify for the subsidy.
Upon downgrading the ward class, subsequent charges will be adjusted from the date of transfer until discharge.
6. Which Medisave can I use for my hospital bill?
Besides using your own Medisave, you can also opt to utilise Medisave from your spouse, children, and parents.
If you are a Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident, you can also access your grandchildren's or siblings' Medisave.
7. How can I check if I am covered by MediShield Life or an Integrated Shield Plan?
To check the insurance coverage details for yourself and the dependant(s) you are paying premiums for, log in to your Healthcare Dashboard at https://www.cpf.gov.sg.
8. If I am facing financial difficulties and unable to pay my bill, who should I reach out to?

Please enquire with your HR personnel about your medical scheme and the co-payment responsibilities you may have.
12. I have a corporate insurance benefit from my company. Could you explain the claim process to me?
For claims using your corporate insurance:
Pre-admission:
Please get a Letter of Guarantee (LOG) from your HR Department and bring it on the admission day. Note that signing a Medisave Form may also be necessary.
Discharge:
After leaving the hospital, send the bill and your company's corporate insurance claim form to your HR Department for claiming and reimbursement. If a medical record or doctor's statement is needed for insurance claims, please reach out to our Medical Record Office.
13. Why won't I receive a subsidy for an industrial accident admission?
For industrial accidents, charges will be at the private rate. If you're a Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident, you can request a downgrade to a subsidised ward once your bill surpasses $45,000. The subsidy will be determined through Means Testing.
14. How can I obtain a refund if my bill is less than the deposit I paid?
Refunds may take up to 14 working days to process after your bill is finalised. Any excess payment will be initially applied to clear any outstanding bills with the hospital.

15. When can I expect to receive my hospital bill?
You will receive an SMS alert when your bill is ready, and you can access your bill using NHG Cares or HealthHub apps. For patients who have no access to the NHG Cares or HealthHub apps, a hardcopy of the bill will be sent to you by mail.
