Nasal symptoms and smell dysfunction are common presentations in primary care, yet persistent nasal obstruction, rhinorrhoea and loss of smell may be overlooked or attributed to recurrent viral infections or allergies. These symptoms can significantly affect patients’ sleep, quality of life and daily functioning, and may occasionally signal underlying disease requiring specialist assessment.

Delivered by ENT specialists, this webinar will provide a practical, evidence-based approach to evaluating and managing smell dysfunction, allergic rhinitis and chronic rhinosinusitis in primary care. Participants will learn to distinguish common clinical presentations, optimise first-line treatment, recognise red flags and identify when referral to ENT is warranted.

As Singapore's population ages, the need for palliative care is growing — and primary care doctors are increasingly on the front lines. Yet many primary care doctors find themselves willing partners without a clear map. In a recent study commissioned by the Singapore Hospice Council, which surveyed over 230 primary care doctors across polyclinics and private general practice. while nearly all doctors recognise the importance of their role in palliative care, confidence drops sharply when it comes to prognostication, pain control, and end-of-life conversations. 

More strikingly, despite high awareness of palliative care services, more than one in three doctors did not know how to refer their patients to them. The barriers are real — time pressures, limited expertise, and difficulty accessing specialist support — but so is the appetite for change. 

This session will explore what it takes to move from good intentions to good care: how we can better equip ourselves to have difficult conversations and how to navigate the palliative care ecosystem with confidence. Because when it comes to living and leaving well, it is everyone’s business.

Heel pain is frequently generalised as plantar fasciitis, leading to suboptimal outcomes. This webinar provides an evidence-based diagnostic framework to confidently differentiate mechanical fasciopathy from calcaneal stress fractures, compressive neuropathies, and systemic arthropathies. 

We will explore the clinical shift from passive modalities to active mechanotherapy. We will also outline escalation pathways for refractory cases, including Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT) and ultrasound-guided interventions, while addressing the long-term biomechanical risks of unguided corticosteroid injections.

Learning objectives: 

• Differentiate mechanical plantar fasciopathy from alternative diagnoses, including calcaneal stress fractures, Baxter’s nerve entrapment, and systemic spondyloarthropathies, using a targeted primary care clinical examination.
• Transition patients away from passive modalities by prescribing active, progressive tissue loading to drive collagen remodeling in true degenerative plantar fasciosis.
• Distinguish between mid-portion and insertional Achilles tendinopathy to prescribe safe biomechanical loading.
• Assess the structural risks of blind corticosteroid injections, including iatrogenic fat pad atrophy and fascial rupture, and determine when to escalate refractory cases at the 12-week mark for POCUS, ESWT, or percutaneous fenestration.
