Collection Instructions:
Preferred: rectal swab OR perirectal swab
Acceptable: soft stool
For rectal swab collection:
1. Insert swab 1 - 1.5 inches into rectum and gently rotate twice.
2. Ensure faecal staining on swab.
3. Send specimen to the laboratory immediately.
For stool collection:
1. Collect specimen into a sterile screw capped container with attached spatula.
2. Send specimen to the laboratory immediately.
Acceptable: soft stool
