Collection Instructions:
Submit one of the following: Bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL), biopsy tissue OR blood
For blood collection:
1. Draw sufficient blood into 2 lavender top tubes.
2. Gently invert the tubes 8 - 10 times.
3. Send specimen to the laboratory immediately.
For fluid specimen collection:
1. Collect specimen in a sterile screw-capped container.
2. Send specimen to the laboratory immediately.
For tissue specimen collection:
1. Collect entire collection in sterile screw-capped container with 1 - 2 mL sterile saline.
2. Please specify the source. If not, the specimen type will be reported as "TISSUE" in the final report.
3. Send specimen to the laboratory immediately.
