Submit one of the following: Bone marrow, peripheral blood, lymph node, solid tumour OR body fluid
Please provide analysis results of immunoglobulin light chain in multiple myeloma and plasma cell dyscrasias, and relevant treatment history including monoclonal antibody treatment (e.g. anti-CD19 and anti-CD38 treatment, etc.) on test request form.
For bone marrow collection:
1. Collect bone marrow into lavender top tube.
2. Gently invert the tube 8 - 10 times.
3. Send specimen to the laboratory immediately.
For peripheral blood collection:
1. Draw sufficient blood into lavender top tubes.
2. Gently invert the tubes 8 - 10 times.
3. Send specimen to the laboratory immediately.
For lymph node, solid tumour collection:
1. Prearrange with laboratory for transport medium.
2. Collect specimen directly into 5 mL RPMI 1640 medium after biopsy.
3. Do not leave tissue to air-dry or fix tissue in formalin.
4. Send specimen to the laboratory immediately.
For body fluid collection:
1. Prearrange with laboratory for transport medium
2. Collect specimen into a container with 0.6 mL transfix medium.
3. Send specimen to the laboratory immediately.
Testing is performed on fresh sample and samples should be dispatched to reach the laboratory before 2pm Monday to Friday for processing. As such, do not dispatch samples on eve of Public Holiday, Saturday and Sunday.
