About Us
Admiralty Medical Centre (AdMC) is a facility under Khoo Teck Puat Hospital and provides specialist outpatient consultations, day surgery procedures for certain conditions and endoscopies. Our specialties available in AdMC include Diabetes, Ophthalmology, General Orthopaedics, Sports & Exercise Medicine, Psychological Medicine, and General Surgery services. We provide Allied Health services as well.
The medical and surgical services are run by clinical departments from Khoo Teck Puat Hospital. Patients are seen by appointment and can be referred by polyclinics or GPs. Patients may also access specialist services directly to make an appointment and will be classified as non-subsidised care.

Clinical
The Department of Anaesthesia comprises a team of dedicated doctors whose primary role is to provide safe and pain-free anaesthesia for patients undergoing surgery.
In recent years this role has expanded beyond the operating theatres to include the intensive care unit and chronic pain clinic.

With the right knowledge and treatment, people with diabetes can lead healthy, active and productive lives. Our patient-centred team care approach ensures patients receive complete and coordinated care. We provide a range of specialised clinical services, complications screening programmes and comprehensive educational programmes to cater to the needs of our patients.
We are also a diabetes resource centre for primary healthcare providers in the north of Singapore. Family doctors can refer patient directly to our podiatrists, nurses and dietitians, so patients can continue to be managed by their GPs while receiving in-depth diabetes self-care training and footcare. Whenever possible, our specialists work in partnership with GPs and polyclinics to care for patients with more complex diabetes.

We will focus on caring for patients within AdMC, KTPH and in our health system and beyond, learning constantly to improve care; and performing research to better understand our patients and their related medical problems. We will work closely with our patients and partner their primary care physicians to achieve best possible outcomes of care for people with diabetes.
Endoscopy is a procedure where a specialist doctor places a small flexible tube with a light source and a video camera at the end to examine the gastrointestinal tract. The gastrointestinal tract can be examined via the mouth or the anus.
This test is frequently performed in patients who have problems such as:
Abdominal pain or discomfort
Unexplained weight loss
Loss of appetite
Blood detected in the stools (e.g. positive stool occult blood test)
A change in their bowel habits
Chronic constipation
Persistent diarrhea
Anaemia (low blood count)
Endoscopy is also performed as a screening test for patients who are at risk of stomach cancer or colon cancer. A screening colonoscopy is recommended for the average-risk adult who is 50 years old and above. Anyone who has a strong family history of colon cancer, such as a first or second degree relative with the illness, should commence colon cancer screening at an earlier age. e.g. from 40 years old.
Endoscopic procedures performed at Admiralty Medical Centre include:
Gastroscopy (also known as Oesophagogastroduodenoscopy) – A procedure to check the oesophagus, stomach and upper portion of the small intestine for inflammation, cancer or infection.
Colonoscopy – A procedure to check the big intestine (colon) for abnormalities such as polyps and cancer.
Hemorrhoidal Ligation – A procedure to treat bleeding piles.
Polypectomy – A procedure to remove polyps which are found during endoscopy.

The General Surgery Team at Admiralty Medical Centre (AdMC) consists of accredited general surgeons with special interests in hernia surgery, lumps and bumps surgery and diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy.
We evaluate and manage patients with:
Abdominal (umbilical/paraumbilical) and groin (inguinal/femoral) hernias*
Superficial lumps and bumps
Upper and lower gastrointestinal symptoms requiring endoscopic examination
We perform elective ambulatory Day Surgery under local or general anaesthesia:
Hernia repair via mini incisions (open/laparoscopic)*
Excision of lumps and bumps
We perform elective ambulatory Day Procedure in diagnostic and simple therapeutic endoscopy under sedation:
Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (OGD)
With/without biopsy and polypectomy
Colonoscopy
With/without biopsy, polypectomy and band ligation of piles
*Major complex surgeries or procedures that require inpatient stay will be carried out at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital (KTPH). Similarly, patients with significant medical or surgical history and anaesthesia risk will receive workup and treatment at KTPH.
The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery provides specialist medical and surgical treatment for selected elective, non-complex musculoskeletal conditions at AdMC. Our services include hand surgery and general orthopaedics.
After surgery, occupational and rehabilitation therapy are available for patients as necessary. In addition, we provide non-surgical treatment like Manipulation and Reduction (M&R) for simple fractures.

Our Psychiatry department is a multidisciplinary team that works together to provide comprehensive and personalised care to all of our patients. Our team includes psychiatrists, psychologists, case managers, and other mental health professionals.

Allied-Health

Our on-site laboratory ensures that your blood and urine test results are ready on time for your healthcare team to treat you. The service supports the clinical services at Admiralty Medical Centre and is also available to GPs who refer their patients for laboratory tests.
Patients can also have their blood test done on the same day as their doctor’s appointment, however they need to come at least one hour before their doctor’s appointment so their test results will be ready on time.
Patients who have a blood test request form can come to our laboratory up to 5 days before their clinic appointment with their doctor.

Our podiatrists provide a wide range of services for these conditions, based on a holistic patient-centered team approach.
