How You Can Help
🥣 Caring Spoons
"Be the reason someone smiles during their meal"
Help patients during mealtimes and offer friendly conversation. You will discover that sharing a meal is about so much more than food – it's about dignity, companionship, and bringing a taste of home to hospital life.
What You Will Do:
Serve meals with warmth and conversation
Assist patients with feeding when needed (training provided)
Clear trays and check in on patient’s wellbeing
Time Commitment:
Once a week - choose your preferred mealtime
Minimum commitment - 6 months
Breakfast: 7:30-9:00am
Lunch: 11:30am-1:00pm
Dinner: 5:30-7:00pm
Suitable for: Anyone who enjoys connecting with people

❤️ Care Support
"Experience healthcare from the heart"
Work alongside our nursing team to deliver care that enhances patient comfort and wellbeing. This role provides valuable healthcare experience while ensuring every patient receives compassionate, dignified support.
What You Will Do:
Assist with personal care activities including hygiene support/li>
Provide mealtime assistance tailored to individual patient needs
Help with mobility and comfort positioning
Support patients in ward activities and social programmes
Offer companionship during treatment and recovery
Time Commitment:
Once a week
Minimum commitment - 6 months
Suitable for: Those interested in healthcare careers or passionate about hands-on caring

🤝 Patient Buddies
"Bring the outside world inside hospital walls"
Offer companionship and social interaction to patients through conversation, activities, and genuine human connection.
What You Will Do:
Engage in meaningful conversations and active listening
Lead activities like board games, puzzles, card games, or reading
Offer emotional support and companionship
Help patients stay connected to life beyond the hospital
Time Commitment:
Once weekly
Minimum commitment - 6 months
Suitable for: Natural conversationalists and anyone who loves making new friends

🌜 Night Guardians
"Peaceful nights, restful healing"
Provide supervised companionship during night shifts by offering comfort to patients who struggle with anxiety or restlessness in unfamiliar surroundings.
What You Will Do:
Provide companionship to fall-risk patients
Monitor patient wellbeing and communicate with nursing staff
Offer comfort and reassurance to restless or anxious patients
Attend to basic patient needs throughout the night
Time Commitment:
Weekly night shifts
Minimum commitment - 6 months
Suitable for: Night owls who want to make a difference during quiet hours

🕊️ Palliative Care Companions
"Bringing comfort to life's most precious moments"
Help patients and families find peace, connection, and dignity through presence, conversation, and practical support.
What You Will Do:
Offer companionship and listening presence
Facilitate gentle activities and creative projects
Assist with meaningful errands and personal requests
Support legacy projects that honour patient stories
Time Commitment:
Once a week
Minimum commitment - 12 months
Suitable for: Mature individuals with strong emotional resilience and empathy

🏃➡ Therapy Buddies
"Celebrate every step forward"
Supports physiotherapists, occupational therapists and speech therapists by helping with patient sessions and ensuring safety during rehabilitation activities.
What You Will Do:
Assist therapists during patient sessions
Ensure safety during group therapy activities
Transport patients between wards and therapy venues
Encourage participation and celebrate achievements
Time Commitment:
Once a week
Minimum commitment - 6 months
Suitable for: Encouraging individuals interested in rehabilitation and recovery

💇🏽♀️ Beautify Me Stylists
"Confidence through care"
Offer grooming services that boost patients’ self-esteem and help patients maintain their personal care routines.
What You Will Do:
Provide haircuts, styling, and basic grooming services
Offer personalised service that makes each patient feel special
Time Commitment:
Bi-monthly sessions
Minimum commitment - 12 months
Suitable for: Licensed stylists or experienced groomers wanting to share their talents

🌱 Ward Green Thumb Gardeners
"Growing hope, one plant at a time"
Maintain plants and garden spaces that provide patients with connection to nature and growth. Ward gardeners create peaceful spaces that aid healing while engaging patients in meaningful horticultural activities.
What You Will Do:
Cultivate plants for therapeutic activities
Maintain ward gardens and mobile gardening trolleys
Harvest herbs and vegetables for patient programmes
Time Commitment:
Daily opportunities with flexible scheduling
Minimum commitment - 6 months
Suitable for: Garden enthusiasts who love nurturing growth

🪴 Therapeutic Gardening
"Healing through growing"
Facilitate therapeutic gardening sessions that help patients reconnect with nature and find peace through planting. These sessions provide gentle activity through hands-on planting activities as part of their rehabilitation.
What You Will Do:
Facilitate bedside and group horticulture sessions
Teach patients about plants, herbs, and growing techniques
Guide hands-on planting activities
Ensure patient safety during all activities
Time Commitment:
Weekly sessions with ongoing opportunities
Minimum commitment - 6 months
Suitable for: Volunteers willing to learn about gardening

👨🏼🌾 Gardeners
"From garden to table - growing community"
Join our outdoor gardening team maintaining rooftop and community gardens that supply fresh produce for hospital kitchens. Experience the satisfaction of growing food that directly nourishes patients and staff.
What You Will Do:
Plant, tend, and harvest vegetables, herbs, and fruits
Maintain KTPH and YCH rooftop gardens
Participate in seasonal planting and harvesting cycles
Time Commitment:
Daily 8:30-10:30am sessions
Minimum commitment - 12 months
Suitable for: Dedicated gardeners who love outdoor work and long-term projects
Age: min 30 years old
🎼 Melodies from the Heart
"Where music meets medicine"
Share the universal language of music to lift spirits and create moments of joy throughout the hospital. Musical volunteers perform live performances to provide entertainment and comfort to patients.
What You Will Do:
Perform live music on piano, guitar, ukulele, or other instruments
Provide bedside performance for individual patients
Lead group singing sessions and musical activities
Adapt performances to patient preferences and energy levels
Time Commitment:
Flexible daily opportunities
Suitable for: Musicians and singers who want to share their gifts for healing

🧶 Knitted Knockers @ NHG Health
This is a collaboration between Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, Woodlands Hospital and Tan Tock Seng Hospital, to make a difference in the lives of women with breast cancer.
You will be part of a caring community that creates soft, comfortable prostheses for women who have undergone mastectomy (breast removal). Your handcrafted pieces will help restore confidence and comfort to breast cancer patients.
What You Will Do:
Knit soft, lightweight knitted prostheses using approved patterns and materials
Ensure each piece meets quality and comfort standards
Join a supportive community of crafters who share their knowledge and experiences with each other
Time Commitment:
Quarterly
Minimum commitment - 12 months
Suitable for: Basic knitting skills preferred
