About NCID

The National Centre for Infectious Diseases (NCID) is a state-of-the-art, 330-bed purpose-built facility established to strengthen Singapore’s capabilities in the prevention, management and control of infectious diseases.

NCID adopts an integrated approach by combining clinical services, research, training, education, and community engagement under one coordinated framework, ensuring a comprehensive national strategy for infectious disease management.

As Singapore’s only facility with a High-Level Isolation Unit (HLIU), NCID plays a critical role in outbreak preparedness and response, providing surge capacity when needed.

It offers multidisciplinary inpatient and outpatient care, encompassing specialized initiatives like the NCID Enhanced HIV Programme and the National Tuberculosis Programme.

Its functional units include the NCID Research Office, the Infectious Diseases Research Laboratory and Clinical Trial Unit, the NCID Data and Epidemiology Unit, the NCID Training and Education Unit, and the Infection Prevention Control and Outreach Office of NCID (ICON).

NCID works closely with the Communicable Diseases Agency (CDA) and its laboratories housed within NCID, including the National Public Health Laboratory (NPHL) and the CDA Research Laboratory (CRL).
