Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy refers to a range of psychological treatments that can help people with a variety of mental health problems and emotional difficulties. Often recommended in combination with medication, it can assist individuals to develop a deeper understanding of themselves and to make changes in their lives so that they may function better and have improved well-being.

Psychotherapy is offered in an individual, couple, family, or group setting, and can help both children and adults. At IMH, it is conducted by various professionals (including psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, family therapists, and art therapists etc). The duration of treatment can range from short-term (few sessions), to mid- or long-term (a few months or more than a year), depending on the individual’s therapy goals and presenting issues.

To provide the most efficient care to our patients, we will assess your needs in order to determine which resources or treatment programmes may be right for you. For relatively quicker access to services, we may recommend internet-based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (iCBT) or group therapy programmes, all of which are evidence based and delivered on a regular and frequent basis.

iCBT is a guided online course which makes it easier for you to access CBT from anywhere at your convenience. You will receive personalised guidance from an IMH psychologist to support you through the course.
