The CGCs specialise in:
Autism Services are for children between 6-18 years old who are along the autism spectrum. Children are referred to us from other hospitals, polyclinics, general practitioners, and schools, or may be self-referred.
ADHD Services offer specialised multi-disciplinary assessment and therapy for children and youth with ADHD and related mental health challenges. Through parent education and workshops, we work collaboratively with parents and caregivers in supporting their children’s needs.
We provide comprehensive assessment, treatment and intervention for children struggling with mood, anxiety, and other related emotional conditions that require closer attention.
Forensic Rehabilitation, Intervention, Evaluation & Network Development Services (FRIENDS) integrates multi-disciplinary assessment with intervention services with goal of supporting:
- Young offenders
- Youth at risk of committing offences
- Victims of child abuse
- Children and parents involved in complex custody and access disputes
We strongly encourage parents or guardians to accompany your child for consultation.
Getting Help at Child Guidance Clinic (CGC): A New Approach
We are introducing a new way to help children and teens at our clinic. CAPA (Choice and Partnership Approach) is a service delivery model that consists of two key components: Choice Appointments (first visit where our care team discuss your concerns and treatment options) and Partnership Work (subsequent visits where we work collaboratively on your identified goals). CAPA allows faster access to care and empowers you and your families to play an active role in your treatment journey.
How It Works
- Your First Visit (Choice Appointment)
- Meet with a trained professional for 60-90 minutes
- Share your concerns and discuss what help you need
- Decide together on the best way forward
- A consultant (psychiatrist) will review your case
At the end of your visit, you may:
- Get tips and resources to self-help and take charge of your mental health
- Be connected to helpful community services
- Decide if you would like to continue treatment at CGC
- Decide if you would like us to refer you to other community agencies or groups that may be able to meet your needs
Subsequent Visits (Partnership Work)
If you continue with us, you will:
- Work with the most appropriate clinician for your needs
- Set clear goals together
- Get personalised care (therapy, medication, family support, or assessments)
We are here for you.
Our team of care professionals including doctors, nurses, medical social workers, psychologists, occupational therapists and pharmacists is ready to support you and your family on your journey to better mental health.
