The TTSH Trauma Training Centre, the training wing of the Trauma Centre, is the trauma training hub for Central Region and Singapore. The Centre runs several local and regional trauma accreditation courses. These include:
1) Advanced Paediatric Life Support (APLS)
This is an accredited Singapore Resuscitation and First Aid Council (SRFAC) course, which trains general healthcare workers in the skills needed for advanced paediatric care in an ambulatory setting. Participants will go through a 2-day course with lectures, skills and teaching stations on paediatric and neonatal resuscitation.
2) Advanced Paediatric Life Support (APLS)

3) Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses (ATCN)
Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses (ATCN) Course was launched by the Society of Trauma Nurses (STN) which teaches well-established treatment methods and approaches trauma care in a systematic manner, presenting to the nurse a concise method of establishing assessment and management priorities in the care of the trauma patient.
4) Definitive Surgery for Trauma Care (DSTC)
The Definitive Surgical Trauma Care Course (DSTC) course is developed under the auspices of the International Association for Trauma Surgery and Intensive Care (IATSIC). It is designed to teach qualified surgeons and advanced surgical trainees strategic thinking and decision-making in the management of the severely injured patients and provide them with practical surgical skills to manage major organ injuries.
5) Definitive Anaesthetic Trauma Care (DATC)
The Definitive Anaesthetic Trauma Care (DATC) course is conducted in conjunction with DSTC and DPNTC. It is designed by the IATSIC to train the anaesthesiologist/intensivist, advanced trainee in strategic thinking and decision-making in the management of the severely injured patients and provide them with practical skills to manage difficult resuscitations.
6) Definitive Perioperative Nurses Trauma Care (DPNTC)
The Definitive Perioperative Nurses Trauma Care (DPNTC) Course is conducted in conjunction with DSTC and designed to provide Perioperative Nurses with the skills necessary to effectively assist surgeons in the Operating Theatres when dealing with life-threatening injuries in the early stages of surgical management.
7) Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS)
PHTLS is developed by NAEMT in cooperation with the American College of Surgeons' Committee on Trauma. It is recognized around the world as the leading continuing education program for prehospital emergency trauma care. The program is based on a philosophy stressing the treatment of the multi-system trauma patient as a unique entity with specific needs. PHTLS promotes critical thinking as the foundation for providing quality care.
