Sarah Ann Tay (Principal Case Manager, Early Psychosis Intervention Programme)

When we started the Early Onset Psychosis service in EPIP for children with psychosis aged 12-15, there was a dearth of information on evidence-based interventions for this cohort. The team based HMDP gave us the opportunity to spend a month to learn from the Danish counterparts from Opus Young, an Early Onset Psychosis service for children and adolescents. It helped us gain insights into biopsychosocial treatment options, with an emphasis on helping the children to regain their functioning and connecting the families after a mental health diagnosis in childhood.

To become a healthcare worker is an unexpected journey for me, becoming a mental health worker is more unexpected. Therefore, I appreciate the training opportunity (Diploma in Nursing and Advanced Diploma in Mental Health) that I have been given.
