Our Biochemistry service has fully automated analysers which include pre-analytical and post-analytical processing to minimise manual intervention and optimise turn-around-time (TAT). We offer a range of routine biochemical, serological and immunological tests to support clinicians in the screening, diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of disease.

Our Blood Transfusion Service offers pre-transfusion testing, including type and screen and compatibility testing. We also provide storage and supply of blood components and plasma derivatives.

Our Haematology service performs routine blood examination, including microscopy for blood disorders and infectious diseases, and coagulation testing. We also provide on-site evaluation of bone marrow biopsies for specimen adequacy.

Our Medical Microbiology and Molecular Diagnostics service provides a range of microbiological investigations, including routine bacterial culture, antibiotic susceptibility testing, serology, antibiotic assays, pandemic testing, and detection of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and other antimicrobial-resistant organisms.

We have a major role in co-ordination of point-of-care testing performed by clinical departments throughout Woodlands Hospital. We assist in the procurement of devices and reagents, training of users, validation of devices, and monitoring of internal and exter​nal quality controls, and device performance.
