Senior-Residency-Pathway

Early-Stage Exposure and Interest

  • Doctors may indicate interest in Dermatology as early as Undergraduate Year 5 (UG Yr 5)

     

  • This includes individuals progressing through House Officers (HO) and Medical Officers (MO) roles.

     

  • Early application during UG Yr 5 allows candidates to signal interest, but formal training occurs later in the pathway.

Foundational Training - Internal Medicine Residency

  • All candidates must complete Internal Medicine (IM) Residency, which consists of 3 years of foundational training. 

     

  • This phase builds core medical competencies required before specialty training. 

     

  • During IM Residency, candidates work towards relevant professional qualifications such as ABIM or MRCP, as indicated in the pathway.

Application to Senior Residency

  • Application for Senior Residency (SR) in Dermatology is made during Residency Year 3 (R3) of Internal Medicine. 

     

  • Entry into Senior Residency is subject to meeting training and assessment requirements during IM Residency.

Dermatology Senior Residency

  • Successful applicants enter Senior Residency in Dermatology, which has a duration of 3 years.

     

  • This phase focuses on structured specialty training in Dermatology.

Post-Residency General Medicine Requirement

  • In addition to Dermatology Senior Residency, trainees complete an additional 6 months of General Medicine / General Rehabilitation Medicine (GM/GRM).

Submission of Personal Portfolio

 

In addition to on-line application for the Dermatology Senior Residency Programme via the MOHH website, you are required to submit your personal portfolio to the Programme Director using the template given.

 

Your personal portfolio may be used, in addition to the interview organized by the programme, for ranking and matching into the training programme.

 

Your personal portfolio and all its supporting documents together with a recent color passport photograph of yourself should be submitted in PDF format to: jaslynlee@nhghealth.com.sg
