The Laboratory Department is supported by 30 Medical Technologists and a team of 2 administrative personnel. We provide a comprehensive range of diagnostic services for patients and private medical practitioners. Our laboratories are equipped with modern technology to ensure accuracy, safety, and timely reporting.

Clinical Laboratory Services

Services include haematology, clinical chemistry, urine analysis, and microscopic examination for fungi and parasites.

Mycology Laboratory Services

The Mycology Laboratory provides fungal microscopy, culture, and identification of dermatophytes, moulds, and yeasts from skin, hair, and nail specimens. 

Immunology and Immunofluorescence Services

Specialised testing is available for autoimmune bullous diseases, connective tissue diseases, and vasculitis using direct and indirect immunofluorescence methods and ELISA testing (BP180, BP230, Desmoglein 1 & 3, Collagen VII). 

Dermatopathology Services

Histopathology services are provided for skin biopsies, including routine histology, special stains, immunohistochemistry, and in-situ hybridisation. 

Molecular Diagnostics

PCR-based molecular diagnostic testing is available for selected infectious conditions, namely Chlamydia, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Herpes Simplex Virus, and Mycoplasma genitalium.

DSC Laboratory (Kelantan Lane)

The Department of Sexually Transmitted Infections Clinic (DSC) satellite laboratory supports STI investigations, including microscopy, HIV, syphilis, hepatitis B screenings, and dark-field microscopy for Treponema pallidum.
