Medical social workers are part of the multi-disciplinary team, working together with the other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive and holistic care to patients and their families. They provide psychosocial support to patients and their families, helping them cope with emotional, social and financial challenges associated with their skin conditions. Medical Social Workers contribute to improved patient well-being and overall quality of care.
Counselling
Medical social workers provide counselling and emotional support to patients and families as they cope with their skin conditions, treatment plans, and lifestyle changes. They help patients and families navigate stress, anxiety and adjustment related to their skin conditions.
Case Management
Medical Social Workers coordinate care by linking patients to appropriate community agencies and support services. This includes referrals for rehabilitation, home care services, mental health support, housing assistance, family services and other essential resources.
Financial Assistance
Medical social workers conduct financial assessments to identify patients in need of support. They connect patients and families with available financial assistance, subsidies, and community resources to ease the burden of medical expenses.
For application of Medifund Assistance*, please provide following documents (where applicable):
NRICs or birth certificate of patient/ spouse/ children/ parents/ household members
Pay slips/ income tax statement/ CPF statement of patient/ spouse/ children/ parents/ family members
Updated bank account passbook(s) / statement(s) / fixed deposits of patient and family members
Latest monthly bills/loan documents (E.g.: Singapore Power bill, town council bill, telephone bill, internet bill, insurance bill)
Documents indicating that you are receiving assistance from other organizations such as the Social Service Office, Mendaki, MUIS, Sinda, CDAC, etc.

Risk Assessment & Crisis Intervention
Our Medical Social Workers are trained to provide risk assessment, crisis intervention and emotional support for patients experiencing suicide thoughts or following suicide attempts.
We also assist patients facing domestic or elder abuse, ensuring their safety and connecting them with appropriate community resources.
