Men and STIs
General health screening may not be sufficient for you if you are sexually active and have not ever been screened for sexually transmitted infections.
Particularly if you have ever:
Had sex without using a condom |
Had paid sex |
Had more than 1 sexual partner |
Not all men who have an infection presents with a sign or symptom. In order to be sure, all sexually active men are encouraged to go for regular sexual health screening.
To make an appointment to see a specialist doctor for a comprehensive sexual health screening, please contact the DSC appointment centre at 6293 9648 or nsc.apptdsc@nhghealth.com.sg.
Gentlemen, Get your Partner(s) Tested too!
If you have been diagnosed with an STI, we encourage you to also ask your sexual partner(s) to get tested too. This is to protect their health and their well-being. Many infected people often don't present with any sign or symptom, but bear in mind that STIs are harmful to your health if left untreated. If you are considering getting your partner(s) to come forth for a testing, it is best you do it straight away. If you put off the idea for another day, you might never tell them what you intend to.

Protecting Yourself
Practice Safer Sex
Condoms are the most effective way to prevent HIV transmission and help prevent other STIs. They work by preventing the transfer of infected fluids.
Lubricants
Using lubricant helps reduce the chance of condom breaking. Only use a water based lubricant. Oil and creams weaken condoms and can cause them to break.
STI Check-Ups and Vaccinations
Regularly get tested for STIs. Getting vaccinated against hepatitis B early or if you are not immune can help protect you against the infection.
Use Condoms Correctly
