IMH & NUS jointly present Graduate Diploma in Mental Health (GDMH)
The Graduate Diploma in Mental Health (GDMH) is a structured training programme for general practitioners (GPs). Jointly organised by the Institute of Mental Health (IMH) and the Division of Graduate Medical Studies (DGMS), National University of Singapore (NUS), this one-year part-time programme aims to increase the capability of GPs in mental healthcare by training them appropriately for the role to detect and treat minor mental health disorders in the community.

Fees
All classes are conducted face-to-face on Saturday afternoons. The syllabus is divided into 6 courses. Each course is conducted over a period of 2 months.
Course 1: Psychosis
Course 2: Mood and Anxiety
Course 3: Addiction
Course 4: Child and Adolescent Mental Health including Learning Disabilities
Course 5: Psychogeriatrics
Course 6: Personality Disorders and Psychological Therapies
The first month in each course comprises weekly classroom sessions on Saturday afternoons. Clinical attachment is applicable to course 1 - 4 and is a half-day attachment conducted during office hours on weekdays for course 1 - 4.
All sessions including lectures, clinical attachments, viewing of video / reading of case notes for case write-up assignment and course exams will be conducted face-to-face at IMH.
The syllabus will be covered by lectures, reading materials, video and live supervision, journal discussion, case vignettes, clinical attachment and/or self-study. Clinical attachment will be available with close supervision and guidance from IMH's doctors.

The programme will be assessed in the following way unless otherwise stated:
Continuous Assessment (CA): 60%
Final examination: 40%
Total Assessment: 100%
The CA component comprises case discussion, case write-up and course examination (applicable for all courses).
Examination Eligibility
Course examination is part of the continuous assessment. Candidates must complete and minimally receive a 50% pass rate for the following assignments, case participation and clinical attachments to be eligible for the course examinations. There will be no re-take of any supplementary exam paper should the candidate fail any course exam.
Complete case write-up (for all Courses)
Case write-up for course 6 is based on a clinical video (viewing of video will be at IMH)
Achieve 75% classroom attendance (for all Courses)
Attend clinical attachments (Applicable to Courses 1, 2, 3 & 4 only)
Clinical attachments are applicable to Course 1, 2, 3 & 4 and are an essential component of the curriculum and a requisite to the course examinations. It is a half-day attachment conducted during office hours on weekdays for each course 1, 2, 3 & 4. The course administrator will work with you on a suitable timeslot about 1 month prior to the session.
Participation in case discussion / case vignettes / live supervision (for all Courses)
Final Examination Eligibility
Students must pass all CA components to be eligible for the final examination.
Award of the Graduate Diploma in Mental Health
Students must meet the minimum passing criteria for every assessment component within each course to be considered as having passed that course. Candidates who fail to meet the minimum passing criteria for any assessment component in the course shall re-take the failed course and final exam at the next programme intake.

Candidates who have successfully completed and passed all the 6 courses and the final examination will be awarded the Graduate Diploma in Mental Health.

Eligibility Criteria
The programme is open to the following:
Doctors with recognised basic medical degree qualification registered with the Singapore Medical Council
GPs who have completed housemanship
GPs with an interest in Mental Health, including GPs on the Mental Health-GP Partnership Programme
Primary Care Physicians; and
Doctors with an interest in mental health
Chargeable Fees are stated as per the table below.

Notes:
Application fee is non-refundable.
Fees are inclusive of prevailing GST rate.
Successful application will be notified via email to accept placement.
Subsidy will be reimbursed upon graduating from the programme.

Funding
The programme is eligible for the below funding:
80% programme fee subsidy* from Ministry of Health (MOH) to all doctors applying for this upcoming intake upon successful completion of the programme.
Deferment
A 10% administrative fee per course will be imposed on candidates who wish to defer any course. Please be informed that this fee is non-refundable. Candidates are required to inform the GDMH administrator on the request and fill up the deferment form at least 3 months before the course’s start date. The request is subject to the Programme Director’s approval, on a case–by–case basis.
Withdrawal Policy
Request for withdrawal must be made in writing to the Programme Director. Policies for fee refund are as follows:
100% refund* if the request for withdrawal is made in writing more than 30 calendar days# before commencement
90% refund* if the request for withdrawal is made in writing no less than 15 calendar days# before commencement
Strictly no refund on fees if the request for withdrawal is less than 15 calendar days# before commencement and/or after the course commences
* Refund excludes the application fee
# Calendar days include Saturday and Sunday.
NUS & IMH reserve the right to make any amendments to the programme structure and fees without any prior notification or whatsoever to the parties involved.
