Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death globally. In 2020, 1 in 3 deaths in Singapore was caused by cardiovascular disease.

High blood pressure, abnormal blood cholesterol levels and high blood sugar levels increases your cardiovascular risk.

In the early stages, there are often no signs or symptoms. Regular screening detects these conditions early and allow for intervention to manage them.

Cardiovascular Risk Screening includes:

1. Height and weight measurement - to check your Body Mass Index (BMI) and determine if your weight is healthy

2. Non-fasting blood test - to check for any abnormal blood cholesterol or blood sugar levels

3. Blood pressure measurement - to check for high blood pressure

4. Screening questionnaire - to check for other risk factors

Colorectal Cancer is the top cancer in Singapore. Regular screening can help detect early signs of colorectal cancer and prevent its development.

• The Faecal Immunochemical Test (FIT) is a screening test that can detect colorectal cancer in its early stages. The test is offered in a simple kit and can be self-administered at home.

• If you are aged 50 and above, you are highly encouraged to perform a FIT once every year. You can undergo colorectal cancer screening (using FIT) through HPB's Healthier SG Screening.

• Consult your HSG-enrolled clinics for more information.

Cervical Cancer is highly preventable and treatable when detected early.

There are 2 types of Cervical Cancer Screening: Pap test & HPV test. The Pap test is recommended for women between 25-29 years old as the HPV test has a high risk for false positives in this age group.

However, the HPV test is proven to be very effective in detecting abnormalities in women aged 30 years and above.

The recommended frequency for the respective tests is as follows:

• Pap test: Once every 3 years (for ages 25-29)

• HPV test: Once every 5 years (for ages 30-69)

Breast Cancer is the most common cancer affecting women in Singapore. It is also the leading cause of cancer death in females. You are at a higher risk of breast cancer if you have a family history of breast cancer or are aged 50 and above.

Mammogram is a screening tool used to detect Breast Cancer. Early detection through regular screening can save your breasts and your life.

The recommended frequency for mammogram is as follows:

• Ages 50-69: Once every 2 years

• Ages 40-49: Once a year (Consult your doctor about the benefits and limitations of going for a mammogram at this age)

• If you are below 40, and have a family history of breast cancer, please consult a doctor for advice.
