A/Prof Phua Dong Haur is a Senior Consultant Emergency Physician at Tan Tock Seng Hospital and Associate Professor (A/Prof) at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (NTU) and Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine (NUS). He trained in toxicology at the Rocky Mountain Poison Centre (Denver, USA) and National Poison Centre (Taipei, Taiwan) in 2007, later establishing the hospital’s toxicology consultation service supporting emergency and critical care teams.
A/Prof Phua’s special interests include clinical toxicology, diagnostic decision-making, medical education, education assessment, and assessment data.
A/Prof Phua has held key leadership roles in education, including Programme Director of the NHG Emergency Medicine Residency (2017–2023) and Assistant Dean of Assessment at LKCMedicine. His contributions to education have been recognised with the NHG Teaching Award for Senior Doctors (2022) and the NHG Education Leaders Award (2025).
A/Prof Phua holds a Master’s in Medical Education (Measurement and Assessment) from the University of Illinois at Chicago and advises the Ministry of Health on national specialist examinations. His work continues to bridge education, clinical care, and system improvement for the benefit of patients and the healthcare community.
