Singapore, 29 May 2026 – NHG Healthiverse, NHG Health’s flagship community health festival returns for the second time on 29 to 30 May at the Bukit Canberra Integrated Hub. Building on the momentum of its inaugural year, this edition spotlights better health through nutrition with the debut of the 15M Hungry Games – a cooking competition for healthier local food – alongside an expanded 15M Health Games. The Festival also marks the launch of SS 604:2025, an updated Singapore Standard to guide nutrition and food services for older adults, ensuring they attain optimal nutrition and health across various care settings. These efforts are part of NHG Health’s nutrition strategy to empower communities to build healthier eating habits across every stage of life – from shaping healthier habits in the young, to preventing and managing chronic diseases and frailty through accessible nutrition care.

In addition, 10 community champions will be honoured with the inaugural 15M Awards for driving strong health initiatives in Central and North Singapore. The opening of the two-day event was graced by Minister for Health and Coordinating Minister for Social Policies Mr Ong Ye Kung, who also presented the inaugural 15M Community Awards.

Shaping Healthier Cooking and Eating Habits across Life Stages

15M Hungry Games: A Cook-Off for Healthier Local Food

The 15M Hungry Games champions healthier eating and challenges participants to reinvent everyday local dishes for better health. Singaporean-style fried rice was chosen as the dish because it is popular across Singapore’s diverse communities and race and is often cooked at home as a shared family meal. Thirty-four teams will compete, with entries judged by NHG Health dietitians and four renowned chefs – Chef Eric Neo, Chef SR Bala, Chef Irene Jansen, and Chef Mel Dean – on taste, nutrition value, presentation and creativity.

The 15M Hungry Games is new to NHG Health’s 15M Social Movement, which aims to add 15 million years of healthy life for residents in Central and North Singapore. Riding on the success of last year’s 15M Health Games, the 15M Hungry Games expands the Social Movement from physical activity to nutrition and food, both important for connecting a community across generations and abilities.

Launch of Singapore Standard (SS) 604:2025 “Guidelines on Nutrition and Food Service for Older Adults”

Beyond the 15M Hungry Games, the launch of SS 604:2025 at the event extends NHG Health and its working partners’ nutrition agenda from homes into care facilities, with sector-wide standards for good nutrition and food service across the continuum of care to support healthy living for every stage of life from prevention to recovery.

This standard sets out practical guidelines for both care operators and food service providers such as hospitals, nursing homes, day care centres, catering companies and meal delivery providers to apply consistently when providing meals for older adults, especially those with special dietary needs.

What SS 604:2025 covers

  • Nutrition care policy, food safety, menu planning, and therapeutic diets

  • Food intolerance, hypersensitivity and allergy (FIHA) management

  • A new nutrition screening tool to identify individuals at nutritional risk

  • Recommendations to fortify meals to support nutritional needs

  • Enhanced food hygiene and safety protocols

SS 604:2025 is a timely resource given Singapore’s fast ageing population.

Mr Ouyang Aqing, Head of Operations (Central Eastern Cluster), Vanguard Healthcare, said, “Vanguard Healthcare has been using the SS 604 as reference for our menu planning since we started operations. With the updated SS 604:2025, the enhanced guidelines provide an even more practical framework to support well-balanced meals, offering different nutrients that support energy, immunity, muscle strength and overall wellbeing of our residents and clients.”

Mr Parry Zhang, Senior Manager, Business Development, Senior Day Care, NTUC Health, shared, “SS 604:2025 ensures that service providers, food vendors, caregivers and clients are on the same page, empowering us at NTUC Health to serve the most suitable food to our seniors. The standards can be used as an educational tool when we engage our clients and caregivers on nutrition and modified diets, guiding them to better select better food options outside.”

Bringing Nutrition Care Closer to the Community

NHG Health’s commitment towards making good nutrition more accessible spans across every stage of life. Together with HealthServe and AMILI, NHG Polyclinics' dietitians piloted the Eat Well culinary training programme in March 2026 at the polyclinic's Health Studio to equip migrant domestic workers and their employers with skills to prepare healthier meals for seniors with chronic conditions.

In partnership with health and social care providers in the community, NHG Health’s Community Health teams also run workshops and activities at Active Ageing Centres and Community Clubs to promote healthy ageing through nutrition, exercise and social engagement among seniors. An example is Walking Foodpedia, a four-week programme that equips residents with practical skills to identify healthier food choices at hawker centres and supermarkets.

In the schools, NHG Health's Healthy Meals in Schools Programme Implementation Support Pack enable schools and canteen vendors to translate national nutrition guidelines into practical, appealing meals, helping students build healthier eating habits from the start.

15M Health Games: Inclusive Sports for All Ages and Abilities

The 15M Health Games return with stronger participation, both current and new partners, all primed for a wider line-up of adapted sports. More than 100 teams, a 25% increase from last year, will compete in adapted versions of football, floorball and volleyball, alongside four new sports this year – adaptive badminton, adaptive water polo, cyber cycle and drone soccer.

The 15M Health Games are co-developed and co-organised with community partners including S3, Rainbow Centre, Singapore Disability Sports Council (SDSC), TOUCH Community Services, AWWA, HUR Solutions, Allkin Singapore, Association of Drone Soccer Singapore, Home Nursing Foundation, Blossom Seeds, Singapore Floorball Association, Republic Polytechnic, and Orange Valley.

When neighbours, families and partners come together around health, small actions can create extraordinary impact."

NHG Healthiverse 2026: What Visitors Can Expect

Visitors to the two-day Festival can take part in:

Professor Joe Sim, Group Chief Executive Officer, NHG Health, said, "Healthcare adds years to life. Communities add life to those years. Lasting health must be entrenched in how we live, eat and move together every day. NHG Healthiverse will continue to stage initiatives like the 15M Health Games, and the new 15M Hungry Games to turn everyday meals and everyday play into building blocks of a healthier and happier Singapore. The individuals and community groups we recognise today through the 15M Awards are proof of what’s possible when residents, and volunteers take ownership of their neighbourhood’s health for meaningful outcomes."
