Pre-Uni Student Attachments

Introduction

The NHG Pre-University Student Attachment is a two-week programme offering the students valuable insights to the medical profession and public healthcare landscape. Through clinical shadowing and interaction with our doctors, students will gain exposure to work in public healthcare institutions, experiencing both the challenges and satisfaction that come with it.

Students will be posted to various NHG institutions, based on availability of placements. Students will only observe and there will be no hands-on activities throughout the attachment period.

Frequently Asked Questions

How will I be assigned to the healthcare institutions?

Students will be assigned randomly to the various institutions and departments based on the availability of placements at each site. After the placements are assigned, students cannot request for a change or swap.

Can I request for specific specialties during my posting?

Placements are assigned based on the availability of each institution and department, hence specific requests will not be entertained.

Can I swap my allocated institutions and/or specialty with another student?

Students cannot swap their allocated departments due to significant administrative complexities that would arise from such arrangements. We encourage students to make the most of their allocated department placement, as each offers valuable learning opportunities.

What if I cannot commit to all 10 days of the attachment?

Placements are limited, and selected applicants must be able to commit to the full duration of the attachment.

What if I happen to fall sick during my attachment period?

In the unfortunate situation that you fall ill during the attachment, we will not be able to provide any replacement placements for you.

Will I receive documentation for this student attachment?

Yes, students who complete a feedback form at the end of the attachment period will be sent a documentation of participation within a month.
