1. How will I be assigned to the healthcare institutions?

Students will be assigned randomly to the various institutions and departments based on the availability of placements at each site. After the placements are assigned, students cannot request for a change or swap.

2. Can I request for specific specialties during my posting?

Placements are assigned based on the availability of each institution and department, hence specific requests will not be entertained.

3. Can I swap my allocated institutions and/or specialty with another student?

Students cannot swap their allocated departments due to significant administrative complexities that would arise from such arrangements. We encourage students to make the most of their allocated department placement, as each offers valuable learning opportunities.

4. What if I cannot commit to the full duration of the attachment?

Placements are limited, and selected applicants must be able to commit to the full duration of the attachment.

5. What if I happen to fall sick during my attachment period?

In the unfortunate situation that you fall ill during the attachment, we will not be able to provide any replacement placements for you.

6. Will I receive documentation for this student attachment?

Yes, students who complete a feedback form at the end of the attachment period will be sent a documentation of participation within a month.

7. Can this attachment fulfil the prerequisites for medical school applications?

Please note that this job-shadowing programme is one week in duration. Some medical schools may require applicants to have a minimum of two weeks of clinical or healthcare-related experience. Students are encouraged to verify the admissions requirements of their intended institutions.

8. Can I submit my application if my vaccinations or serology tests are still pending?

No. All required vaccinations and/or serology tests must be completed, and supporting documentation must be submitted by the application deadline. Applications with incomplete vaccination records or pending test results will not be considered.

Who Can Apply?

The programme is open to pre-university students who are Singapore Citizens or Permanent Residents.

As part of the application process, applicants must provide documentary proof of immunity or vaccination for the following:

Hepatitis B
Varicella-Zoster (VZV/Chickenpox)
Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR)
Tetanus, Diphtheria and Pertussis (Tdap)
Covid-19

Administration Fee

Successful applicants must pay an administration fee of $109.00 to confirm the attachment placement. Fees are not refundable unless the department is unable to fulfil its obligations due to extenuating circumstances.
