Adj A/Prof Mervyn Koh is dually accredited as a specialist in both Geriatric and Palliative Medicine. He is currently the Divisional Chairman of the Division of Integrative and Community Care that oversees Departments of Geriatric Medicine, Palliative Medicine, Rehabilitation Medicine as well as Continuing and Community Care in Tan Tock Seng Hospital.
Adj A/Prof Koh was also formerly the Head of Department of Palliative Medicine at Tan Tock Seng Hospital (2013 – 2020) and Medical Director of Dover Park Hospice (2020 – 2025).
Adj A/Prof Koh’s clinical interests are in both Palliative and Geriatric Medicine. His care philosophy is ‘Every patient is unique, and doctors should respond to their individual needs.
Adj A/Prof Koh did his post-graduate training in Geriatrics and Palliative Care at Mount Sinai and Beth Israel Hospital in New York.
Adj A/Prof Koh is also co-editor of ‘The Bedside Palliative Medicine’ and ‘The Bedside Communication Handbook’ and his diverse research interests includes Grant-funded research in the areas of Delirium, Burnout, ICU-Palliative Care, Communication, Technology and Leadership in healthcare.
Adj A/Prof Koh was awarded the Healthcare Humanity Award in 2011 and 2025 for his work in Palliative Medicine.
