Dr Sophie Cai is a Consultant Dermatologist at the National Skin Centre (NSC), Singapore, with a clinical focus on dermatological and laser surgery, cosmetic dermatology and Mohs Micrographic Surgery and reconstruction for skin cancers.
Dr Cai completed her fellowship in Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Advanced Dermatological Surgery at the world-renowned St John’s Institute of Dermatology in London and is one of the few Singaporean dermatologists to be qualified as a member of the American College of Mohs Surgery and the British Society of Dermatologic Surgery. With her passion and commitment to providing the best and up-to-date treatment for her patients, she went on to pursue various clinical attachments in the United States, Europe and Korea, gaining diverse international exposure in Mohs Micrographic Surgery, dermatological and laser surgery. She is also a Dermatological Society of Singapore (DSS)-NSC Certificate of Competency (CoC) Instructor in the fields of hair removal laser and intense pulse light (IPL).
Dr Cai provides cosmetic or aesthetic treatment for improving skin texture, acne scars, skin laxity, wrinkles, sun damage as well as removing benign skin lesions such as moles, cysts, skin tags, age spots, prominent blood vessels, and other skin growths by surgery, electrocautery, cryotherapy, laser, chemical peel or filler treatments.
In addition to her clinical responsibilities, Dr Cai has a strong interest in nurturing the future generation of dermatologists serving as a Clinical Tutor for teaching medical school undergraduates and postgraduates. She also guides international doctors who come for observerships at NSC’s Dermatological and Laser Surgery Unit.
Dr Cai was awarded the National Healthcare Group (NHG) Health LKCMedicine Clinician Scientist Preparatory Programme (CSPP) and CSPP Plus Awards and is actively engaged in skin cancer and cosmetic dermatology research.
Dr Cai has presented at global dermatology conferences including those held in the United States, Europe, Korea, Japan, and Taiwan. She has also received recognition for her contributions to clinical care and the Long Service Award at NSC.
