3 July, 2026 - NHG Health was recognised with four honours at the Public Sector Transformation (PST) Awards 2026, for its effective initiatives in mental health, community engagement, clinical care and sustainability.
“These awards are a proud moment for NHG Health,” said Professor Joe Sim, Group CEO, NHG Health. “They reflect how our teams are redesigning care around patients and residents, and the lasting impact we are making in the lives of our community.”
Dare to Do Award: Single Entry Point for Mental Health Support
The national mindline 1771 clinched the Dare to Do Award. Supported by the Ministry of Health (MOH) and operated by the Institute of Mental Health (IMH), it is Singapore’s first national 24/7 mental health helpline and textline service offering support via calls, Whatsapp and webchat. Between June and December 2025, it handled more than 39,000 interactions.[1]
Previously, individuals in distress or mental health needs faced stigma and privacy concerns in seeking support from service providers physically. This worry delayed early intervention, which could lead to worsening of their mental health state or conditions. The national mindline 1771 addressed this critical gap. The new “no wrong door” approach provides a simplified entry point, where cases are assessed and routed to appropriate care. A network of over 200 community partners supports follow-up care.
The initiative also surfaced emerging needs, such as caregiver support, interim care between appointments, and substance-related concerns, enabling better service planning with community partners. In partnership with the National CARE Management Committee Secretariat, the team also provides operational training for Whole-of-Government agencies and Public Healthcare Institutions to equip them with the necessary competencies to handle crisis situations.
Citizen Engagement Excellence Award: Community Health Effort Expands Reach
NHG Healthiverse, the flagship community health festival of NHG Health, featuring the 15M Health Games, received the Citizen Engagement Excellence Award for mobilising residents to take ownership of their health through inclusive, community-led activities and adaptive group sports. The Games especially brings together residents of all ages and abilities through play and adaptive sports across Central and North Singapore.
The inaugural event in October 2025 drew more than 36,000 participants. Co-designed with six community and education partners, including TOUCH Community Services, Republic Polytechnic, Nanyang Polytechnic, Blossom Seeds, Home Nursing Foundation and AWWA, the 15M Health Games are Singapore’s first large-scale heath games designed for all ages and abilities.
The Games reached 23.2% of residents who had not previously engaged in group physical activity, including seniors with limited mobility and persons with disabilities. Momentum carried into 2026 where participation grew 25% to over 100 teams.
Since then, community partners like Blossom Seeds and Home Nursing Foundation have embedded the games into regular programmes, with residents trained to run them in their own neighbourhoods.
This reflects NHG Health’s commitment to building a sustainable, community-led ecosystem for preventive health, aligned with Singapore’s Healthier SG shift toward collective community wellness.
WOG Service Champion Award: Advancing Coordinated Diabetes Care
Ms Mariana Binte Mahadi, an Advanced Practice Nurse at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital (KTPH), received the WOG Service Champion Award for her unwavering commitment to delivering holistic and culturally sensitive diabetes care.
She pioneered KTPH’s Ramadan Skills for Life programme and later developed Singapore’s first pilgrimage-focused diabetes programme. Working across disciplines, she introduced innovative, religiously appropriate care models and established GP referral pathways to support seamless care transitions. The programme has supported more than 125 participants across five runs since its launch in November 2023.
Ms Mariana has also played a key role in the Diabetes Remission Programme supporting 26 patients through sustained lifestyle changes while addressing broader needs such as workplace challenges, family support, travel and social stigma. She also established peer support platforms to strengthen patient engagement.
Beyond clinical care, Ms Mariana contributes to the national diabetes ecosystem through education, research and professional development. She trains healthcare professionals, develops tailored patient education resources, serves on national committees and lectures at the NUS Master of Nursing programme while advancing diabetes research as a Principal Investigator.
GreenGov Excellence Award: Driving Sustainable Healthcare at TTSH
Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) received the GreenGov Excellence Award for its Driving Green Healthcare@TTSH initiative.
