NHG Health and Fourier Rehab have signed a new five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) focused on advancing rehabilitation and robotic technologies. The agreement was inked during the Global Rehabilitation & Assistive Technology Summit 2026, held from 13 to 15 May 2026 at Fourier’s headquarters in Shanghai.
Why Are NHG Health and Fourier Rehab Expanding Their Collaboration?
The new MOU builds on an existing partnership established through:
- an initial MOU signed in 2021, and
- a Master Research Collaboration Agreement signed in 2022.
Since then, both organisations have embarked on clinical rehabilitation initiatives, including the deployment and evaluation of selected Fourier rehabilitation technologies for rehabilitation services at Tan Tock Seng Hospital.
The expanded partnership will:
- accelerate clinical translation of healthcare technologies across Singapore and international healthcare ecosystems;
- improve rehabilitation outcomes through robotics and AI-enabled systems; and
- support scalable, evidence-based rehabilitation care.
What Will the New Five-Year MOU Focus On?
The MOU will centre on three key areas:
1. Establishment of a Joint Rehabilitation Innovation Hub (RehabHub)
The Joint Rehabilitation Innovation Hub, known as RehabHub, will serve as a platform to:
- showcase and drive adoption of advanced, personalised rehabilitation technologies
- bring together clinicians, engineers, researchers and industry partners for closer collaboration
- accelerate the co-development and real-world validation of rehabilitation technologies.
2. Development of Clinical Applications for Rehabilitation and Robotic Technologies
The collaboration will also focus on the co-development and clinical validation of scalable rehabilitation robotics and assistive robotic technologies. Key areas include:
- rehabilitation solutions across the continuum of care, including inpatient, outpatient and transitional care settings
- clinical workflow integration
3. Strengthen the Rehabilitation Technology Ecosystem
Beyond research and clinical implementation, both organisations will collaborate on regional and international outreach initiatives to drive knowledge exchange and advance the rehabilitation technology ecosystem. These efforts include:
- joint participation at global healthcare and rehabilitation platforms
- showcasing co-developed rehabilitation innovations in real-world settings
- multidisciplinary capability development
What Does This Partnership Mean for the Future of Rehabilitation Care?
The renewed MOU reflects a shared belief that the future of rehabilitation care will increasingly be shaped by the integration of clinical expertise, rehabilitation robotics and assistive technologies. It combines NHG Health’s clinical and patient care capabilities with Fourier Intelligence’s expertise in rehabilitation robotics and healthcare technology.
