Bariatric & Metabolic Surgery

Surgery is available for obese patients who satisfy certain criteria, including patients with metabolic diseases (eg. diabetes) that are not controlled by conventional means. Surgery results in sustained weight loss. It also leads to remission or improvement of co-morbidities such as diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidaemia, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and obstructive sleep apnoea. Various procedures are available that can be tailored to each individual patient. These include:

All of these are performed via Laparoscopy (keyhole surgery), providing less painful and faster recovery. 95% of our patients stay not more than 2 days after their operation. Bariatric Support Group

As part of the ICOD, our Bariatric Support Group (Singapore LapBandits) runs once every three months. This is a support group for bariatric surgical patients and family members and provides support for those who have had surgery, as well as those who are contemplating surgery.
