Biodata

Dr Thomas Tan Choo Heng is a Consultant Neurosurgeon from National Neurosceince Institute. He has been appointed as Head of Neurosurgery at Sengkang General Hospital. Having graduated from Medical School at National University of Ireland, Galway (NUIG) in 2010. He subsequently completed his Neurosurgical residency at National University Hospital, Singapore in year 2020. He has joined National Neuroscience Institute since then.

Dr Tan is specialised in minimally invasive spine surgery which includes Full Endoscopy Spine Surgery (Uniportal), and all ranges of spine surgeries. His interest includes motion preserving spine surgery such as cervical disc replacement. He is a frequent speaker in spine conferences and he is also an appointed faculty in Endoscopy Spine course.

Other than his interest in minimally invasive spine surgery, he is also an endoscopic skull base surgeon with huge interest in sellar region tumour such as pitutary tumour, Rathke's cleft cyst and Craniopharyngioma. His expertise in Neurosurgery extends to common brain tumours such as brain metastases and meningiomas.

Dr Tan has strong focus in research and academic work apart from his clinicaly work. He is a faculty of Neurosurgery Residency and he was awarded Residency in Singhelath Excels (RiSE) award 2023 in recognition of his contribution in the training of neurosurgical residents. Other than that, he is also active member of Singapore Spine Society.
