Dr Terry Tan practises Otolaryngology with special clinical interests in Sleep Medicine and Surgery, in addition to general ENT. He also holds teaching appointments for both the NUS Yong Loo Lin and NTU Lee Kong Chian Schools of Medicine and is involved in both clinical teaching and examining duties. He is also part of the core faculty for the NHG ENT Residency program and takes great interest in the training of our future ENT specialists.
Dr Tan graduated from the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine in 2007, embarked on the local ENT training program and obtained his Specialist Accreditation in Otorhinolaryngology in 2015. He has a subspecialty interest in sleep and had helmed the ENT Sleep Service in Khoo Teck Puat Hospital since 2015, introducing new procedures and optimising the management of patients with sleep disorders. He was the first person locally to be awarded a HMDP (Health Manpower Development Program) with the focus on hypoglossal nerve stimulation (HGNS) as a means of treating obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). He went to the University of Pittsburgh Medical Centre (UPMC) in Pennsylvania, USA as a Visiting Scholar under the mentorship of Dr Ryan Soose, one of the pioneers in HGNS, in 2017.
Dr Tan has been involved in the setup of Woodlands Health since 2018, building up a good team of doctors and audiologists, and strongly believes in intradepartmental teamwork and collegiality, as well as cross-disciplinary collaboration. With this operating philosophy, he hopes to enhance patient care and experience within WH.
