DrTay Kon Voi has distinguished himself in the field of surgery, completing his General Surgery training at National University Hospital, Singapore, in August 2018 and earning the prestigious Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh).
In 2019, DrTay advanced his career by joining Tan Tock Seng Hospital as an Associate Consultant in the Trauma and Upper GI service. His expertise and leadership skills subsequently led to his appointment as Consultant and Head of the Upper GI and Bariatric Division at Woodlands Health in 2021.
DrTay's dedication to advancing his skills was honored with the Health Manpower Development Plan (HMDP) award in 2022, which further sharpened his expertise in Upper GI, Bariatric, and Trauma surgery. He completed a dual surgical fellowship at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital and the Body Science and Metabolic Disorders International Medical Center at China Medical University Hospital in Taiwan from 2023 to 2024, focusing on mastering complex GI surgeries, particularly those for gastric and esophageal cancer, advanced bariatric procedures including endoscopic techniques and revisions, and minimally invasive fixation of rib fractures in trauma patients.

Beyond his clinical practice, DrTay shares his expertise as an adjunct lecturer at both the LKC School of Medicine, NTU, and the YLL School of Medicine, NUS. His significant educational contributions were recognized with the NHG Teacher Award for Senior Doctors in 2023. DrTay's research interests in gastric cancer, bariatric and metabolic disease research, medical technology innovation, and surgical training underscore his dedication to the advancement of the surgical field.
Renowned for his pioneering work in medical technology, DrTay has received three Med Tech innovation grants and has been acknowledged for his developments in Virtual Reality Training through the Serious Game grant under the ALIVE program, from 2019 to 2023. His current projects aim to advance surgical visualization techniques for minimally invasive procedures and improve the accuracy of nasogastric tube placement, with the goal of enhancing surgical safety and patient care efficiency.
DrTay has authored numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals, particularly in the field of Upper GI surgery, with an emphasis on gastric cancer and bariatric procedures. As a consistent participant in local and international conferences and surgical workshops, he remains at the forefront of the latest evidence-based practices and technological advances. DrTay advocates for the transformative potential of AI and robotic assistance in surgery, predicting a significant evolution in the field that will improve outcomes for all.
