Biodata

Dr Shane Sim specialises in Head & Neck/Endocrine Surgery, Breast Surgery and Acute Care Surgery. His special interests lie in thyroid, parathyroid, salivary glands, adrenal glands, head & neck cancers, benign and cancerous breast conditions and general surgical conditions.

Dr Sim graduated from the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine in 2010. Believing in a broad based post graduate education and providing holistic care to his patients, he obtained the Graduate Diploma in Family Medicine from his alma mater in 2014 before embarking on his surgical training with the National Healthcare Group Residency Program. Dr Sim obtained his Masters of Medicine (Surgery) from NUS in 2018. He is an accredited specialist by the Singapore Medical Council and has been a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (FRCSEd) since 2021. Dr Sim continues to grow his expertise in Breast Surgery, Head & Neck/Endocrine Surgery with Tan Tock Seng Hospital Breast & Endocrine Service and Otorhinolaryngology Department after obtaining his specialist accreditation.

In 2021, he was awarded the SingHealth-Duke NUS Head and Neck Surgical Oncology Fellowship at the National Cancer Centre Singapore and received his cross-training by faculty members from Head and Neck Surgery, Otorhinolaryngology and Oral-Maxillofacial Surgery. Thereafter, he completed another fellowship in Breast Surgical Oncology and Endocrine Surgery at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, The Royal Melbourne Hospital and The Royal Women’s Hospital to further his interests in advanced breast, thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal surgeries.

In his clinical practice, Dr Sim is guided by his firm principles in treating every individual with respect, kindness, dignity and compassion while providing evidence-based treatment to achieve the best possible outcome for his patients. Besides clinical care, Dr Sim also teaches medical students from NUS and LKC Schools of Medicine and junior doctors as he believes in mentoring the next generation of doctors to serve the greater community. He was awarded the NHG Teaching Award for Senior Doctors in 2023.
