Biodata
Dr Serene Tang graduated from the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore in 2011. She embarked on her general surgical residency at the National Healthcare Group in 2011. She earned her Masters of Medicine in 2016. She subsequently obtained her admission to the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh, in 2017. She joined Woodlands Health in 2018.
She pursued her interest in breast cancer surgery with fellowship training in Tan Tock Seng Hospital, Singapore. She was awarded the Health Manpower Development Program Fellowship Award from the Singapore Ministry of Health and subsequently trained at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, United States, and Royal Brisbane Women’s and Children’s Hospital, Australia, in 2020, in the areas of breast conservation and oncoplastic surgery. She subsequently completed a breast surgical fellowship in Showa University Hospital, Japan, in 2022.
Dr Tang is also active in breast cancer research and medical education. She is a lecturer at both the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University Singpaore, as well as Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, Nanyang Technological University. She has won teaching awards from both the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore, as well the National Healthcare Group. She has presented in local and international breast cancer conferences, and published in international journals. Her area of clinical interests includes oncoplastic breast surgery and breast cancer.
Dr Tang speaks English, Mandarin and Hokkien.
