Biodata
Dr Ruth Chen is a Consultant and Chief of the Department of Cardiology and clinical lead of the Cardiac Care Unit. She is dually-accredited in cardiology and intensive care medicine.
Dr Chen obtained her medical degree from the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore in 2012. She completed her junior residency in Internal Medicine with the National University Health System and senior residency in Cardiology at the National University Heart Centre, Singapore in 2018. She obtained her Testamur Status in the Examination of Special Competence in Adult Echocardiography, under the National Board of Echocardiography in 2022. She further completed her Advanced Specialty Training in Intensive Care Medicine in 2023. Her clinical and research interests lie in critical care cardiology, post-cardiac arrest care, acute heart failure and echocardiography.
Dr Chen sits on the National Post-Cardiac Arrest and Survivorship (PCAS) Workgroup by the Unit of Pre-Hospital Emergency Care under the Ministry of Health. She is also an established educator for medical students and junior doctors, and is a Clinical Lecturer and Adjunct Clinical Teacher with both the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and NTU Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine.
Dr Chen speaks English and Mandarin.
