Dr Phyo graduated from University of Medicine, Myanmar in 1998. He obtained MMedSc (​Surgery) in 2004 and then MRCSED (UK) in 2013.

In 2018, Dr Phyo successfully enrolled as a trainee in the Service Registrar Scheme, a program that led to the Diploma in Urology conferred by the Academy of Medicine Singapore. He performed exceptionally well in the program, excelling in both theoretical knowledge and surgical skills. He emerged as one of the top scorers in the exit examination of the program in May 2021.

Dr Phyo is the primary clinician spearheading the Prostate Cancer Clinic in Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, providing holistic care to advanced prostate cancer patients.

Currently he is working as a Senior Resident Physician with Woodlands Health and nested in Khoo Teck Puat Hospital.
