Dr Nicolas Lim practises Emergency Medicine with special clinical interests in point of care ultrasound, critical care, medical education and innovation.
Dr Lim trained in the Republic of Ireland. He graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 2004. He completed specialist training in both Emergency Medicine 2019 and Intensive Care Medicine 2021. During his training, he has completed Fellowships in Point of Care Ultrasound (Ultrasound Leadership Academy), Resuscitation (Mater Hospital Dublin) and Intensive Care Medicine at multiple sites in Ireland (Dublin - St James Hospital, Beaumont Hospital, Mater Hospital and in Galway - University College Hospital Galway).
Dr Lim joined Woodlands Health in April 2022. Prior to this he worked as an Intensive Care Unit Consultant in University College Hospital Galway, Republic of Ireland.
Dr Lim lectures on and teaches point of care ultrasound around the world with the Ultrasound Leadership Academy. He is a regular speaker at the European Society of Emergency Medicine (EUSEM) and International Federation of Emergency Medicine (IFEM) conferences and has lectured in Greece, UK, Portugal, Czech Republic, Germany, Netherlands, Spain, Turkey and Norway. He has also lectured and taught in the United States at the University of Vermont and the Maine Medical Centre and in ultrasound courses in Kentucky and Oregon.
Dr Lim believes that healthcare innovation is one of the keys to improving the patient experience in their healthcare journey and has won prizes for his projects during his residency - Bayer Travel Bursary 2015 for point of care ultrasound teaching, 2 SPARK Innovation prizes in 2019 for 'Portable Ultrasound the way forward' and 'SALAD A Dirty Airway Manikin'.
