Biodata

Dr Louis Lim is a consultant with the Department of Ophthalmology, Woodlands Health and National Healthcare Group Eye Institute.

Dr Lim practices Ophthalmology with special clinical interests in comprehensive ophthalmology, cataracts, medical retina and vitreo-retinal surgery. In addition, he serves as a Clinical Lecturer with both undergraduate medical schools in Singapore.

He completed his undergraduate medical training at the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine in 2011 and obtained his Master of Medicine (Ophthalmology) in 2018. He also qualified as a fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (United Kingdom) in 2020. During the course of his residency training at National Healthcare Group Eye Institute (NHGEI), he was also awarded the outstanding NHG resident award in 2020. Dr Lim was also awarded the Ministry of Health Manpower Development Plan (HMDP) in 2023 where he went on to train as a Vitreo-retinal fellow in Royal Perth Hospital and Lions Eye Institute in Western Australia, gaining additional valuable exposure to community/rural ophthalmology, inherited retinal diseases and ocular oncology as well.

Dr Lim has also been involved in multiple leadership and administrative roles. He previously served as chief resident in the National Healthcare Group Ophthalmology residency program and is a previous executive committee member of the young ophthalmologist chapter of the Singapore Society of Ophthalmologist (SSO).

Dr Lim also has a keen interest in research and has completed his clinician scientist preparatory program (CSPP). In addition to presenting in numerous local and overseas research conferences and publishing multiple papers in peer- reviewed journals, he has also consistently won multiple research awards in the Singapore Health and Biomedical Congress (SHBC), including the Young Investigator Gold Award in 2016 and the Clinician Investigator Bronze Award from 2016 to 2019. He also received multiple research grants for his main research interests, including diabetic retinopathy, polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy and age-related macular degeneration.
