Biodata

Dr Yang Huina serves as a Senior Consultant and Head of Laboratory Medicine at Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

Dr Yang graduated from University College London with an intercalated BSc and MBBS, supported by multiple scholarships and awards. She subsequently completed specialist training in Medical Microbiology and Virology with major Public Health England regional centres, culminating in her appointment as Chief Resident at Addenbrooke’s Hospital.

At the renowned cardiothoracic and transplant centre, Royal Papworth Hospital, Dr Yang was recognised for her leadership in antimicrobial stewardship strategy, quality improvement, and service governance. Working within high‑acuity environments such as transplantation, ECMO, critical care, cardiothoracic surgery, and immunocompromised populations, she developed a deep expertise in managing complex infectious disease challenges at both patient and systems levels.

Dr Yang joined Tan Tock Seng Hospital with an interest in overseeing diagnostic modernisation and service redesign to meet the evolving needs of healthcare and patients in Singapore. She is recognised as a collaborative leader who invests in people. Her leadership philosophy centres on system thinking, data‑driven decision‑making, and cultivating a culture where safety, value and clinical excellence are embedded at every level.

Dr Yang concurrently holds appointments with the National Public Health Laboratory (Communicable Disease Agency) and the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (NTU), reflecting her broader contributions to national public health readiness, academic development, and the advancement of diagnostic science in Singapore.
