Biodata

Dr Wong Shiun Woei is a Senior Consultant Cardiologist with a dual subspecialty focus in cardiac critical care and cardiac imaging. His clinical practice encompasses the management of critically ill cardiac patients and the use of advanced imaging modalities to guide diagnosis and therapy. Dr Wong has a particular interest in haemodynamics and mechanical circulatory support (MCS). He leads the Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) Pulmonary Embolism Catheter-Directed Therapy Team, driving multidisciplinary care for patients with complex thromboembolic disease. In addition to his clinical work, he is actively involved in multicentre research, with publications in several peer-reviewed journals.

Dr Wong obtained his Master of Medicine (Internal Medicine) from the National University of Singapore and became a Member of the Royal College of Physicians (United Kingdom). He further attained the European Diploma in Intensive Care (EDIC) from the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine, reflecting his expertise in managing cardiovascular emergencies and critical illness. In cardiac imaging, he holds dual international credentials — the Diplomate status of both the Certification Board of Nuclear Cardiology (CBNC) and the Certification Board of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography (CBCCT).

An active clinician-educator, Dr Wong is deeply committed to nurturing the next generation of healthcare professionals. He is a Lecturer at both the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine and the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, where he teaches undergraduate and postgraduate medical students. Beyond academia, he regularly conducts teaching sessions for residents, nurses, and allied health professionals, emphasising practical application and multidisciplinary collaboration. He serves as Chair of the National Healthcare Group (NHG Health) Cardiology Senior Residency Programme Evaluation Committee, overseeing curriculum standards and training quality across institutions. Within his department, he contributes to quality assurance as a Quality Review Officer and leads quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing patient safety, workflow efficiency, and clinical excellence.

Dr Wong believes that the essence of good cardiology lies in combining science, precision, and compassion to deliver care that truly makes a difference.
