Biodata

Adj A/Prof Charles Vu obtained his medical degree from Monash University, Australia and subsequently completed his Gastroenterology training at Monash Medical Centre in 1997. He was awarded the Health Manpower Development Plan award and completed two years of subspecialty training in endoscopic ultrasound at Guys and St Thomas' Hospitals in London, United Kingdom from 2003 to 2004. He joined Tan Tock Seng Hospital in 1998 and has been a Senior Consultant in the Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology since 2005. He served as Head of Department from 2008 to 2013. He currently heads the Advanced Endoscopy service in the department.

Adj A/Prof Vu's subspecialty interests include pancreato-biliary diseases and advanced diagnostic and therapeutic gastrointestinal endoscopy. He is a member of various local and international societies including the Gastroenterological Society of Singapore and the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. Adj A/Prof Vu has written many book chapters and published multiple peer-reviewed articles in prominent journals on topics of Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS), Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangio-Pancreatography (ERCP), colon polyps and pancreato-biliary diseases. He has won multiple awards including the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) Endoscopic Audiovisual Awards in 2007 and 2014.

Besides clinical work, Adj A/Prof Vu held adjunct teaching appointments in the Yong Loo Lin (NUS) and Lee Kong Chian (NTU) Schools of Medicine.
