Biodata

Dr Melissa Tien is a Senior Consultant with the NHG Eye Institute at Tan Tock Seng Hospital. Her areas of clinical interest include Neuro-ophthalmology, Visual Electrophysiology, Cataract and General Ophthalmology.

Dr Tien underwent a 12-month fellowship at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital, Melbourne, where she trained in Neuro-ophthalmology and Visual Electrophysiology under the supervision of A/Prof Owen White, Dr Neil Shuey and Dr Heather Mack. She also had the privilege of training in Visual Electrophysiology under Prof Graham Holder at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London.

Her research work includes the use of the ocular-motor system as a surrogate marker of cognitive inhibitory impairment and the characteristics of patients with visual snow syndrome.

Dr Tien currently serves as Programme Director for the NHG Health Ophthalmology Residency Programme, overseeing post-graduate ophthalmology training for the NHG Health. She is also Head of Training and Education for the NHG Eye Institute at Tan Tock Seng Hospital, and Clinician Lead for the Visual Electrophysiology service.
