Biodata

Asst Prof Lester Tan serves as a Senior Consultant in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. His clinical interests are minimally invasive (keyhole) surgery of the shoulder, elbow, hip and knee, shoulder and elbow replacements, upper limb trauma, shoulder and elbow instability, and knee ligament injury surgeries.

Asst Prof Lester Tan graduated from the University of Barts & the London school of Medicine and Dentistry, Queen Mary University of London, with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) with a Distinction in Clinical Science. He has also completed further postgraduate qualifications: Member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (MRCS), Masters of Medicine in Orthopaedic Surgery (NUS) and Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeon of Edinburgh (FRCSed Ortho). He is also registered with the Singapore Specialist Accreditation Board.

He is also very involved in medical education, both undergraduate and postgraduate, and has received multiple teaching awards over the years. He serves as the overall orthopaedic lead in the Lee Kong Chian (LKC) school of medicine in NTU. Asst. Prof. Lester is also a senior clinical lecturer in the Yong Loo Lin (YLL) school of medicine in NUS. He is also a core clinical faculty in the Orthopaedic residency training program. Within TTSH, he also serves as the Assistant Program Director for the Post Graduate Year 1 (PGY1) programme, looking after the training and well being of the junior doctors in their first year.
