Biodata

Dr Sunder Balasubramaniam graduated from the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine (National University of Singapore) and completed his Residency in General Surgery (NHG Health). He is a Trauma and Acute Care Surgeon with an interest in Endocrine Surgery. He was awarded the Health Manpower Development Program (HMDP) scholarship by the Ministry of Health in 2019 to further his training in trauma and acute care surgery; and spent a year in Auckland under the supervision of Prof Ian Civil and Dr Li Hsee. He has played an important role in improving the management of patients with rib fractures in Tan Tock Seng, including surgical fixation of rib fractures in patients. Dr Sunder is a Visiting Consultant at Sengkang General Hospital, Khoo Teck Puat Hospital and Woodlands Health Campus for complex trauma patients.

Dr Sunder also cares for patients with Endocrine Surgical issues such as thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal nodules. He ensures he is up to date in the latest standards of care including laparoscopic surgery where suitable. He attends both local and international conferences and often contributes in the form of presentations.

Apart from surgery, Dr Sunder has a keen interest in medical education and surgical training. He is a regular faculty at the Definitive Surgical Trauma Care Course conducted once a year, and is an active member of the College of Surgeons Singapore under the Academy of Medicine Singapore.
