Dr Matthew Tay is a Consultant in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine. His clinical interests include musculoskeletal rehabilitation, image-guided musculoskeletal interventions, neuromuscular botulinum toxin injections and cancer rehabilitation.

Dr Tay obtained his medical degree from the National University of Singapore (NUS). He underwent specialist training in rehabilitation medicine, during which he received the Chapter of Rehabilitation Medicine Book Prize, and is a board-certified rehabilitation physician in Singapore. He also completed a Master of Clinical Investigation at NUS.

Dr Tay holds additional qualifications including a Graduate Diploma in Sports Medicine and the European Pain Federation Diploma in Pain Medicine, for which he was awarded the Ulf Lindblom Prize. Dr Tay is STEP-certified in musculoskeletal ultrasound by the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He was awarded the Health Manpower Development Programme (HMDP) scholarship for a fellowship in musculoskeletal intervention at the Toronto Rehabilitation Institute, Toronto General Hospital, and Toronto Western Hospital in Canada, and is a Licentiate of the Medical Council of Canada.

Academically, Dr Tay is actively engaged in clinical research and medical education. He has published in local, regional, and international peer-reviewed journals and has received multiple awards at scientific conferences. Dr Tay regularly peer reviews for journals and has been invited to speak at various local, regional and international scientific meetings. He is part of the Rehabilitation Health Academic Clinical Program (ACP) and Institute of Rehab Excellence, and is a recipient of both the Ministry of Health (MOH) Healthcare Research Scholarship and NHG CiPP Award for research and innovation.

Committed to advancing the field through education, Dr Tay actively teaches at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, contributing to the development of the next generation of healthcare professionals.
