Biodata

Adj A/Prof Loh Yong Joo is a Senior Consultant and Head of Department in TTSH Rehabilitation Medicine as well as an Adjunct Associate Professor (Adj A/Prof) at Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, NTU. His clinical sub-specialty is neurorehabilitation, managing patients with stroke, traumatic brain injury and other neurological conditions. His research and innovation interests are in rehabilitation technologies, particularly in the areas of virtual reality, robotics, wearable sensors and tele-rehabilitation.

He completed his MBBS at NUS Medicine in 2001 and obtained his Master of Medicine (MMed, Internal Medicine) and MRCP in 2011. Subsequently, he completed his NUS Masters of Clinical Investigation (MCI) in 2012 and rehabilitation medicine advanced specialty training in 2014, becoming a registered specialist in rehabilitation medicine. He was awarded the MOH Health Manpower Development Plan (HMDP) in 2017, when he led his team to visit established centres in Switzerland and Finland to learn about rehabilitation technology implementation.

He currently serves as Director of Clinical Innovations in TTSH Clinical Research and Innovation Office where he provides leadership in TTSH’s clinical innovation focused areas including 3D printing, rehabilitation & assistive technologies, point-of-care devices, extended reality. He actively enables co-development, validation, and implementation of technologies from hospital to community and provide oversight and guidance of relevant technology projects including robotics, virtual reality, sensors, and data integration.

He has been appointed as Academic Chairman for NHG Rehabilitation Health Academic Clinical Programme since January 2025, aiming to achieve rehabilitation excellence in clinical care, research and innovation, and education by working closely with academic and industry partners.

His care philosophy is to aspire towards a healthcare system that enables “Every Moment a Rehabilitation Moment” to optimise individuals’ physical and functional health by offering rehabilitation opportunities anytime, anywhere from hospital to the community.
