Dr Joyce Lai graduated from the University of Southampton, UK in 2013 and pursued postgraduate training in Histopathology in the Wessex Deanery, UK, obtaining her FRCPath, Certificate of Higher Autopsy Training and Certificate of Higher Cervical Cytology Training in 2019 and Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in 2021. She has subspecialty interests in genitourinary, gastrointestinal, gynaecology pathology. Prior to joining Tan Tock Seng Hospital in 2023, she worked in the University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust.

She believes in teaching and educating the next generation of doctors and was previously involved in the University of Southampton medical school tutorials and Student Selected Units, and also supervised Wessex Pathology trainees.

Currently, Dr Lai participates actively in postgraduate teaching within the department and undergraduate teaching at Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (Nanyang Technological University), where she serves as an Adjunct Clinical Faculty. She is also a member of NHG Pathology Residency Program Clinical Competency Committee.
